CREAC 2025 International Meeting: Strengthening Cultural Entrepreneurship in the Caribbean
The CREAC (Caribbean Resource Center for Artistic and Cultural Entrepreneurship) project is an international cooperation initiative co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme. The project aims at developing CREAC through the creation of innovative educational material, training activities for artists and trainers, the integration of resources created for vocational education and training (VET) institutions in the artistic and cultural sector, and the creation of permanent virtual, relational, and physical spaces that foster cooperation between VET institutions and the creative and cultural industries sector (CCI), as well as the promotion of ethical, inclusive and sustainable artistic and cultural enterprises. Specifically, the project will result in: a CREAC web, a CREAC Network, and the CREAC Fair in the framework of the Annual Festival of Romerías de Mayo held in Holguín, Cuba.
The Dominican Republic will host the second international meeting of the CREAC consortium in 2025, a space dedicated to training, exchange, and the co-creation of strategies to promote ethical, inclusive, and sustainable cultural entrepreneurships in the region.
For five days, from October 24 to 28, representatives from various cultural and legal entities —including Arci Culture Solidali APS (ARCS, Italy), Saíz Brothers Association (AHS, Cuba), National Council of Cultural Houses from the Ministry of Culture (CNCC, Cuba), the Cuban Society of Law and Informatics (Cuba), Institute for the Development of the Associative Economy (IDEAC, Dominican Republic), Manifesto Jamaica (Jamaica), and Africa Moment (Spain)— will participate in a program designed to strengthen the capacities of the Caribbean’s cultural and creative sector. The event will include training sessions, collaborative working groups, experience-sharing forums, and visits to local cultural entrepreneurships that illustrate best practices and replicable models in the region.
The central focus of the gathering will be the presentation and collective discussion of a reference manual for cultural enterprises, which will serve as a practical guide for the consortium’s organizations and other stakeholders in the region. Furthermore, discussions will center on promoting ethical and community-based practices, the legal framework adapted to the Caribbean context, the integration of the dual green and digital transition, as well as communication and sustainability, all with the goal of ensuring the long-term durability of the CREAC project in the Caribbean.
This meeting aims not only for training but also for the creation of international collaboration networks to facilitate the internationalization of Caribbean cultural projects. All activities will be carried out with special attention to diversity, inclusion, and sustainable development, representing a fundamental step towards building a more cohesive, innovative, and resilient regional cultural ecosystem.
